What is Aircraft Management?
By: Executive Jet Management

Business aircraft, by most accounts, are a complex and costly asset, and yet mid-size to large companies are finding them to be essential for operating day to day business. Long gone are the days when a corporate jet was considered a luxury. Now, in this transcontinental and international business world, a jet is becoming a necessity.

So, you've selected and acquired your aircraft. What next? Do you employ your corporate flight department to manage the maintenance, scheduling, and administrative tasks for your aircraft? Or do you outsource some or all of those responsibilities to a company in the aviation industry, one that can offer you the expertise that comes with successfully managing an entire fleet of aircraft?

Such a company is known as an aircraft management company, and its service offerings are determined by the type of certificate on which you wish your aircraft to be placed. Part-91 certificates are exclusively for aircraft owner operations, prohibiting lease or charter usage. Part-135 certificates allow for a management company to use your aircraft for charter at your permission when not in use by your company. If you do not expect to fully utilize your aircraft, having a management company charter it is an excellent way to offset a portion of your fixed costs.

A leader in the aircraft management business is Executive Jet® Management (EJM). When an aircraft owner comes to EJM to manage their aircraft, personnel from its Transition department survey the aircraft to determine if it will meet FAA and EJM standards. When the aircraft is deemed safe, secure, and a good addition to the fleet, EJM offers two programs to the aircraft owner: Turnkey Aircraft Management and Charter Aircraft Management.

The Charter Aircraft Management program is primarily designed for those companies who have an existing flight department, but wish to take advantage of Executive Jet Management's base of charter customers who seek private jet travel, departing and arriving all around the world. This partnership generates charter revenue back to your company, helping to offset the cost of owning and operating your aircraft. EJM's database of charter customers is growing by the day, and in offering supplemental lift for the NetJets fractional aircraft ownership program, the demand for safe and modern jets is higher than ever. EJM's Charter Sales staff, nearly 30 strong, finds the most ideal aircraft for their charter customer, and calls on your dedicated EJM Owner Services manager to check your aircraft's availability. The Charter Aircraft Management program at EJM is most attractive to owners whose aircraft sit idle for lengthy periods in between company-related flights.

The Turnkey Aircraft Management program, in essence, is your personalized flight department. Maintenance, flight operations, and accounting services are managed with the constant, keen attention of specialized personnel who know your aircraft from top to bottom. Your Owners Services Manager is charged with knowing your schedule and coordinating with our Flight Center to verify your aircraft is ready for your itinerary. And your Client Relations VP is aware of all areas of your aircraft's operation and stay current on your unique needs as an aircraft owner. As a NetJets company, Executive Jet Management has the buying power to offer you significant savings in maintenance, insurance, and fuel. In addition, a benefit of which nearly all of EJM's turnkey management clients take advantage is adding their aircraft to EJM's charter fleet.

Some common questions of aircraft owners considering crewing and maintenance options provided by Executive Jet Management:

How is my flight crew selected?

EJM will evaluate your mission needs and determine the optimal crew to effectively operate your aircraft. Our crew recruiting department will then locate, interview, screen and qualify suitable candidates. The selection process varies in duration with aircraft type and market conditions. Upon completing a thorough evaluation process, the candidate will be presented to you as his/her final step before being hired, assigned and dedicated to your aircraft.

Who employs the crew?

Your dedicated flight crew is employees of Executive Jet Management. We provide turnkey personnel and administration services, including payroll and benefits administration.

What are your maintenance procedures?

Your aircraft will be maintained to the industry's highest standard: the Executive Jet Management standard. In fact, Executive Jet Management has received the FAA's Diamond award, the industry's benchmark for maintenance excellence, for ten years running. This success is due in part to comprehensive maintenance programs implemented by skilled and experienced maintenance technicians.

Over 100 companies nationwide have selected the aircraft management services of Executive Jet Management. Aircraft owners enjoy the hassle-free ownership of an asset that serves their company's best interests.
